Abstract
905,518. Pneumatic tyres. PIRELLI S.p.A. Sept. 5, 1958 [Oct. 26, 1957], No. 28598/58. Class 144 (2). In a replaceable tread pneumatic tyre wherein the tread unit 1 is reinforced by a cincture of circumferented wires or cords 2 so as to be circumferentially inextensible but radially and transversely flexible and thereby secured in position on the casing unit 3 on inflation of the latter, the casing unit is of rubber or the like devoid of any reinforcement except for the inextensible wire-bead cores 4. The tread cincture may comprise one or more layers of wires or cords 2 and the respective rubbery materials of the tread and casing units may be the same or different. The casing unit may be moulded about the bead cores, within a mould having fixed undeformable metal walls, by injection pour or transfer moulding techniques. Specification 864,909 is referred to. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 700,608.
