904,275. Extruding. SCHLOEMANN A.G. Nov. 1, 1960 [Nov. 13, 1959], No. 37467/60. Class 83 (4). An hydraulic extrusion press has an axially movable billet container 10 which, during extrusion, is pressed against the die 9 supported through one or more pressure pieces 8, 4, 3 by the bolster 1, 2, and spherical surfaces 13 are provided on the bolster plate 2 and adjacent pressure piece 3 with their centre of curvature 14 in the entrance place of the die. Piece 3 is pressed towards the bolster by a flange 15 biased by cup or disc springs 17. A seal 20 prevents dirt entering the spherical joint. For extruding tubes a mandrel 12 is used inside the press ram 11. The die 9 and pressure-piece 4 are mounted on transversely movable slides 7, 5, respectively.
