Abstract

904,032. Washing granular material. SCHUCTERMANN & KREMER-BAUM A.G. FUR AUFBEREITUNG. Nov. 24, 1958 [Nov. 23, 1957], No. 37820/58. Class 82 (2). A drum sink separator for concentrating minerals and coal with a heavy liquid comprises a separation trough 3, an overflow weir 2 and a charging weir 4 forming an extension of the trough 3 and a rotating drum 1 in the form of a scoop wheel with perforated buckets 10 for the removal of the sinks. The material to be concentrated is charged into the heavy liquid via weir 4 and the floats are discharged over weir 2 via paddle wheel 5. The sinks are lifted by drum 1 into a shoot 6 which has a screen 7 for removal of fines which are fed back into the trough 3. The heavy density separating liquid discharges via outlets 8. into a trough 9 which extends around the drum to a height slightly above the liquid level in the drum. The drum may also be provided with guide plates arranged axially of the drum, at least the lower part of the guide plates being covered with a resilient material such as rubber.
