Abstract
903,139. Water aerators. AGHNIDES, E. P. Sept. 25, 1958, No. 30670/58. Class 14 (1). In a water aerator of the type comprising a casing 45 having a water inlet at one end and a water outlet at the other end, jet forming means comprising two superposed, relatively spaced diaphragms 48, 49 within and extending transversely of the casing 45, the diaphragms having apertures therein for the passage therethrough of water which enters the casing through the inlet, air inlet means 46 adapted to deliver air to the interior of the casing at a zone downstream of the diaphragms 48, 49 and resistanceproducing means 52 downstream of the zone in which the water and air are mixed, each diaphragm 48, 49 is of curved cross-section so that the apertures therein are in a surface which is inclined in relation to the axis of the casing 45. The concave edges of the diaphragms may face each other, Fig. 1 (not shown), or the diaphragms may be curved in the same direction as shown in Figs. 2 and 3. The peripheral parts of the downstream diaphragm at least is sealed against the flow of water round its edges. As shown in Fig. 2, the casing 45 is resilient and seals the edges of both diaphragms 48, 49. In the modification shown in Fig. 3, at least one of the diaphragms 61, 62 is made of plastic material such as polyethylene whereby the resilience of the diaphragm itself effects a sealing engagement between the diaphragm and the casing. Specification 685,463 is referred to.
