Abstract
903,057. Partitions for boxes. REED CORRUGATED CASES Ltd. Aug. 4, 1960 [Aug. 18, 1959], No. 28205/59. Class 18. A box has a cellular partitioning member comprising a plurality of strips 4 hingedly interconnected, each pair being connected at spaced points 5, 6 the interconnections 7 between adjacent pairs being disposed intermediate the spaced points, alternate pairs of interconnected strips being secured together in face to face relationships at the location of their interconnections. In a preferred embodiment the partitioning member is made from a sheet 3 of unlined chipboard, divided by means of die cut slots into eight parallel strips 4 having semicircular recesses 8. The sheet is folded concertina fashion along the lines defined by the slots and connecting pieces 5, 6 and 7. Lines of adhesive 11 are applied to one side of the sheet 3 so that pairs of strips 4 are secured together in the location of connecting pieces 5 and 6 when the sheet is folded. The partitioning members are disposed in a case and strengthened for stacking on top of one another by a dividing sheet between them. The contents (e.g. fruit) are ventilated through holes formed in the corners of the case, internal circulation occurring through the cutouts 8 and slots 9. The partition members may be formed of strips of thin plywood, metal, plastic material, cardboard, fibreboard, interconnected by hinges or tabs glued to the strips. Each partitioning member can be folded flat when not in use. The case has double thickness end walls and may have a double thickness partition. The case is made of corrugated board.
