Abstract
902,537. Fresnel lenses. JOBLING & CO. Ltd., JAMES A. April 6, 1960 [April 6, 1959], No. 11599/59. Class 97 (1). A doublet comprises first and second Fresnel lenses each having several concentric prisms, the first lens being between the second lens and the principal focus of the doublet and the equivalent bending surfaces of the prisms of the first lens being disposed on a spherical surface which has the principal focus of the doublet as its centre, each prism of the first lens lying in the position of minimum deviation with respect to incident rays proceeding from the principal focus of the doublet and the corresponding refracted rays. As shown, the doublet comprises Fresnel lenses A and B each consisting of concentric prisms P and a central portion CP. The lens A is constructed, as described in Specification 902,536 so that the hypothetical surface of each prism containing the points of intersection of incident rays proceed from the principal focus of the lens and the corresponding refracted rays cuts a spherical surface having the principal focus of the lens A as its centre. In the lens B, the equivalent bending surfaces of the prisms are disposed about a spherical surface centred on the principal focus of the doublet.
