A support for a horizontal cylindrical workpiece 10 during welding &c. comprises rollers 12, 13 on brackets 11, each carrying rolls 16, 17 resting on guides 14 having arcuate or polygonal surfaces. The rollers 13 are driven in unison by electric motors. The surfaces 14 may be toothed to engage teeth on the rolls.
