[Also in Group XXII] A flame desurfacing nozzle con sists of a body 10, having upper and lower groups of passages 15 for fue gas, e.g., natural gas or acetylene and a central passage 14 having slot-shaped outlet 16 for oxyger and an enclosing cap 12 having a single slot-shaped aperture 24. Each group of fuel gas passages 15 opens into a separate diffusion zone 30 between the cap 12 and a stepped flat 34 on the body 10. An enlargement 20 at the end of the central passage assists aspiration of the deflected upper and lower fuel gas streams into the boundary layers of the stream of oxygen.
