Abstract
900,278. Flame cutting burners. BRITISH OXYGEN CO. Ltd. April 26, 1961 [April 28, 1960], No. 14939/60. Class 75 (1). [Also in Group XXIX] A preheat gas supply control system for a flame-cutting nozzle 10 comprises an adjustable flow metering valve 17 in the acetylene supply line 13, a trimming valve 19 downstream of the metering valve 17 and a differential pressure gauge mechanism 21 subject to the pressures upstream and downstream of the flow metering valve. The differential pressure mechanism comprises two diaphragms or bellows acting in opposition and jointly actuating an indicating mechanism comprising a pointer. The trimming valve 19 is used to return the pointer to a central mark if it moves therefrom. An adjustable pressure regulator 15 is included upstream of the metering valve 17. The oxygen supply 14 is controlled by an identical system. The metering valve 17 comprises a fixed plate having a U-shaped orifice and a rotatable masking plate having a semi-circular opening. A flamecutting machine has a head with three nozzles each of which has a gas supply system as described.
