Abstract

900,255. Agricultural implements. HANSEN, M. March 13, 1961 [April 11, 1960], No. 9028/61. Class 6(1). An agricultural implement comprises a rotatable tool 9 mounted on a beam or jib consisting of an inner part 5 on which is pivoted an outer part 6 and a feeler arm 11 which operates a hydraulic valve to cause the part 5 to pivot rearwardly when the arm 11 contacts an obstruction. As shown in Fig. 3 the shaft 8 of the tool 9, which is driven from the tractor, drives a hydraulic pump 16 through bevel gearing 15 which maintains a piston 22 of a hydraulic cylinder 20 in the position shown, the piston being connected to an arm 23 fast with the inner part 5. Movement of the arm 11 operates a valve to release the fluid in the cylinder 20 to cause the tool and the outer part of the beam to pivot rearwardly. The tool comprises carrier arms in which tools are fixed by means of spiral springs.
