900,058. Conveyers; tipping crates and other containers. YOUNG, S. J. Nov. 18, 1960 [Nov. 19, 1959], No. 39344/59. Classes 78 (1) and 78 (4). Apparatus for inverting crates and like containers from a bottom down to a bottom up position to empty them of debris comprises an endless conveyer 5 which, in cooperation with a step member 19, causes the leading edge of the crates to drop on to a roller 11. A V-belt 10 driven by a pulley 9 mounted on the delivery-end roller 6 of the conveyer 5 rotates the roller 11 clockwise and in passing round a pulley 13, operates an endless upwardlyinclined conveyer 15. A further conveyer 18 is driven by a belt 22 from the shaft of the pulley 13. When the leading edge of a crate in a bottom down condition reaches the roller 11, the edge is dragged back against the direction of travel of the conveyer 5 and the crate is inverted to drop on to a roller conveyer 14 in a bottom up position. The crate travels by gravity down the conveyer and the shaking it receives assists in emptying the crate of debris which falls between the rollers and into a bin 23. At the delivery end of the conveyer 15 the crate topples over a stop 20 on to a step 17, this movement carrying the crate on to the conveyer 18 in a bottom down position.
