Abstract
898,773. Dental syringes. SIEMENSREINGER-WERKE A.G. April 4, 1961 [April 7, 1960; May 10, 1960], No. 12017/61. Class 81 (2). A dental syringe, to which air and water are supplied under pressure to form a spray, has a chamber from which medicament is ejected into the outgoing stream by the pressure of either the air or water. Water and air supply pipes 6, 7 pass to control valves 4, 5, respectively, both actuated by a wheel 2. From the valves they flow through ducts 14, 25 to the mixing nozzle 12 but a branch from the air pipe 25 leads to the space below a piston 21 in a medicament chamber 16 so that medicament is forced out through a duct 20 to the water duct 14. Normally the duct 20 is closed by a needle valve 26 but, when valve 5 is opened air pressure, acting on a diaphragm 28, lifts the stem 26 to open the valve. The degree of opening may be set by a stop screw 34. In a second embodiment the space below the piston is connected to the water supply duct, and the latter contains a choke tube to ensure a suitable fall in pressure for the medicament to leave the chamber.
