Abstract
897,960. Percussive tools. ATLAS COPCO A.B. March 23, 1960 [March 31, 1959], No. 10269/60. Class 124. An internal combustion operated percussive tool as described in Specification 739,453 is modified in that it is provided with a hammer piston acting directly on the steel shank and is guided in a guide member between the check chamber and the auxiliary piston chamber. As shown, a free piston has a motor portion 33, an auxiliary portion 34 of larger diameter, and a blow delivering portion 35 having a smooth cylindrical surface along its whole length forming a seal with a bore 31 in a guide 32 and preventing the escape of compressed air from a chamber 39 to a chamber 40. Flushing air may be led from a chamber 28 through a passage 44, 45, controlled by an adjusting screw 46, through passages 47 in the guide member 32 to a space surrounding the end of the drill shank 48.
