Abstract

Cosmetic cleansing compositions, e.g. shampoos comprise a surfact active agent, e.g. a long chain alkyl sulphate such as sodium and magnesium lauryl sulphates or a fatty acid/hydrolyzed protein condensates ("lamepons") and a magnesium salt, an aluminium salt, and a cadmium and/or copper salt. Preferred salts are magnesium and cadmium halides (e.g. chlorides), aluminium sulphate and cupric sulphate and halides (e.g. cupric chloride).ALSO:Cosmetic compositions comprise a diluent or excipient, a magnesium salt, an aluminium salt and a cadmium and/or copper salt. Preferred salts are the magnesium and cadmium halides, cupric sulphate or a cupric halide and aluminium sulphate. Optional ingredients include surface-active, emulsifying, foaming and cleansing agents and the compositions may take the form of a solution, emulsion, dispersion or cream. When solutions are employed, it is preferred that these are prepared in the presence of a metal, e.g. gold, platinum or cadmium in powder and/or foil form.
