Abstract

895,161. Pulse radar. SPERRY RAND CORPORATION. Oct. 23, 1956, No. 32343/56. Drawings to Specification. Class 40(7). In a pulse radar system the transmitted pulse is passed, before transmission, through a filter, having atime delay which increases inversely with. the frequency. Each frequency component of the pulse wave is subjected to a different delay thereby widening the pulse and reducing its amplitude. The converse action is produced at the receiver by a second filter so as to compress the pulse. Thus increased power may be supplied to the pulse, without reaching the peak power limitation and the detection range is increased. The overall action of the two filters produces a linear phase shift at carrier frequency and the system may be employed in M.T.I. systems.
