895,081. Paper containing synthetic fibres. KURASHIKI RAYON KABUSHIKI KAISHA. Feb. 12, 1960 [Feb. 27, 1959], No. 5060/60. Class 96. Paper &c., e.g. for printing, writing, drawing, copying, packing, toilet use, or electric insulation, or ornamental coloured papers, or board, corrugated board, pulp-paper, string-reinforced paper, or roofing felt &c. is made by a dry or wet process, e.g. on a longitudinal wire-cloth or a cylinder paper - making machine from " soluble " and " insoluble " polyvinyl alcohol fibres and other fibres etc.; it is heated to make the " soluble " fibres adhesive. The " soluble " fibres may dissolve in water at 45‹ to 75‹ C. and may contain less than 2% (mol.) of residual acetic acid groups or may be acetylized to 1 to 15% (mol.) using formaldehyde or acetaldehyde &c. or may be saponified up to 80 to 98% (mol.). The " insoluble " fibres may dissolve at 90‹ to 120‹ C. They may be used with ground wood, kraft, semi-chemical, sulphite, or soda pulp, cotton, hemp, jute, viscose, or acetate fibres, or glass or asbestos fibres etc.; and polyester, polyacryl, polyethylene, polyvinyl chloride, polyamide, polypropylene, viscose, or acetate fibres may be included.
