Abstract
894,076. Friction clutches. ZAHNRADFABRIK FRIEDRICHSHAFEN A.G. Nov. 1, 1960, No. 37525/60. Class 80 (2). An electromagnetically-engaged multi-plate clutch having wear compensating means provided by forming the armature of three concentric rings 11, 12, 13, interengaging by oppositely handed screw threads as described in Specification 856,075, is modified by forming the intermediate ring 12 of non- magnetic material such as bronze so that substantially no magnetic flux passes through the friction plates 5, 10 of the clutch. The magnet coil carrier 2 is fast with a driving shaft 1 and carries a slipring 7. The driven part of the clutch is provided by a body 8, and the inner ring 11 of the armature is axially slidably and rotatably mounted on the driving shaft by a bronze bush 16.
