Abstract
893,619. Linkwork. ZEISS JENA VEB., CARL. May 2, 1960, No. 15418/60. Class 80 (3). [Also in Group XX] Coaxial coarse and fine adjusting mechanism for an optical instrument in which the fine motion axle is disposed within the coarse motion axle comprises elements associated with each axle co-operating one with a member pivoted on a stationary axle and the other with a pinion loosely rotatable on the said axle, said member and said pinion each acting to pivot an intermediate lever supported on a knife-edge of the pivoted member, one end of said lever being integral with a toothed segment meshing with the pinion and the other end actuating a slide by way of a point-supported rod. As shown in Figs. 1 and 2, the coarse motion axle 1 is in the form of a crank-shaft carrying cams 2<SP>1</SP>, 3<SP>1</SP> which act on bell-crank lever 4 causing, via the resilient connection 24, pivoting of a second bell-crank lever 6 pivoted on a stationary axle 5. On a knife edge 10 of lever 6 is supported a lever 7 movement of which is imported to a slide 9 of an optical instrument by way of a pointed rod 8. Springs 16, 17 prevent backlash. For fine motion, lever 7 is pivoted about the knife edge 10 by means of its toothed segment 11 meshing with a pinion 12 loosely rotatable on shaft 5 and deriving motion via the gear train 13 from fine motion axle 15 contained within axle 1, the drive wheel 14 of which is housed in the space between the webs 2, 3 of the coarse-motion crank-shaft. Alternatively, the coarse motion control constituted by bell-crank lever 6 may be replaced by a twoarmed lever whose second arm is formed as a segment meshing with a drive wheel on the coarse-motion axle.
