Abstract

893,572. Feeding and delivering compacted coal. COAL INDUSTRY (PATENTS) Ltd. July 1, 1958 [July 3, 1957], No. 21072/57. Addition to 875,441. Class 87(2). A briquetting apparatus as claimed in the parent Specification is arranged in the inlet passage 11 of a high pressure coal gasifier 10 and the coal extruded by a ram 14 forms a gaseous seal in the said passage. The passage 11 is provided with as valve 12 which is normally open. The briquetting apparatus may be located in the outlet passage of a treatment vessel, Fig. 2 (not shown). Cooling means may be arranged around that portion of the passage sealed by the compacted coal.
