Abstract

893,023. Ignition systems. BENDIX CORPORATION. July 28, 1959 [Aug. 19, 1958], No. 540/61. Divided out of 891,615. Class 7(4). [Also in Group XXXV] Two or more spark discharge devices 61, 62 of an ignition system are energized simultaneously by secondary windings 69 of high frequency step-up transformers 65, 66 which have their primaries connected in parallel to a pulse input 60, capacitance being provided in the primary circuits either by capacitors 71 or by forming the primary windings as inductively wound foil type capacitors. High frequency pulses in the primary circuits are said to produce secondary currents which ionize the spark gaps before current flow therein begins.
