Abstract
892,519. Heat treatment furnaces. ELECTRIC RESISTANCE FURNACE CO. Ltd. Feb. 12, 1960 [March 4, 1959; Sept. 8, 1959], Nos. 7606/59 and 30654/59. Class 51 (2). A heat treatment furnace comprises a refractory lined treatment chamber 10 with a bottom door-cum-charge support 13 mounted on an hydraulic ram 25, a horizontally extending antechamber 28 with a door 31 and a quench tank 29, and a roller conveyer 30 divided into movable sections 32 and 33 and fixed sections 35, 36 and 37. The treatment chamber is heated by electric resistances 21 and has an inner sleeve around which inert gas supplied to antechamber 28 is circulated by a fan 15. Work racks or carriages 14 are charged by successively placing in positions 14a, 14b and 14c followed by raising into the treatment chamber. During discharging, the same positions are occupied in reverse, work at position 14b being then optionally lowered into and removed from quench tank 29 by hydraulic ram 34. A separate door may be provided in the side wall of chamber 28 alongside the top of the quench tank to allow the withdrawal of individual charge components.
