Abstract

Non-stick surgical dressings comprise a sterilized fabric made from smooth, continuous filaments of flexible non-toxic material. The fabric may be woven, knitted or formed from a series of warp threads superimposed on a series of weft threads and secured together at their points of intersection. Preferably each yarn comprises between 15 and 40 mono-filaments and suggested, suitable materials are viscose rayon, acetate rayon, nylon and polyethylene terephthalate. Preferably the fabric is backed by an absorbent pad or forms an envelope enclosing such a pad and a composite dressing of this nature may be mounted on an adhesive backing. If desired, the dressing may be medicated. Specifications 792,277 and 891,963 are referred to.
