Class 39(1) The live electrodes of an electrostatic precipitator are coated with a highly corrosion proof and highly insulating layer and the grounded electrodes are coated with a highly corrosion proof, but electrically conductive layer. The insulating layer may be a varnish or a synthetic plastic material. As shown one set of plates 1 is supported by a stay 3 and spaced by distance sleeves 2. The plates are provided with a layer of insulating material 12 and tubes 11 of similar material 11 are provided on the sleeves 2.
