Abstract

891,617. Lever handles for latches or locks. CLIFFORD BROS. Ltd., and CLIFFORD, R. Aug. 16, 1960 [Sept. 2, 1959], No. 29894/59. Class 44. A lever handle in which the shank 11 of the handle proper 10 is mounted for rotation in a tubular bearing boss 12 which projects forwardly from a fixing plate 13 provided with holes 14 for screws whereby if can be secured in position on a door is characterized in that the forwardly projecting bearing boss is externally screw threaded to receive a ring nut 23 and in that a front finishing plate 22 is provided which will cover the whole of the front face of the fixing plate and its securing screws and has in it an appropriately positioned clearance hole for the boss, the ring nut serving to retain the finishing plate in position. The ring nut has an inwardly directed annular flange 24 which covers the forwardly presented end edge of the bearing boss and closely encircle the handle shank. The finishing plate has a rearwardly directed flange which covers the edges of the fixing plate. The fixing plate has an elongated hole 27 through which the key is passed which is large enough to include a number of possible key hole positions in the front finishing plate.
