Abstract

An ethylene polymerization catalyst is prepared by grinding under inert conditions a mixture of Ti and TiCl3, the mixture not being heated strongly before or during the grinding. The grinding may be effected in an inert liquid hydrocarbon (e.g. one which is also suitable for use in the polymerization reaction) or under an inert gas such as nitrogen or a noble gas. Specification 811,633 is referred to.
