Abstract

890,972. Stud and socket fastenings. F. T. PRODUCTS Ltd. Oct. 5, 1960 [Oct. 19, 1959], No. 35356/59. Class 44. A fastener for securing two members together comprises a stud 10 and a retainer 11, the stud comprising a single strip of resilient material bent about parallel lines to the shape of an open loop, the limbs 13, 14 of the loop being formed with outwardly directed feet 19, 20 and at least one of the limbs of the loop being formed with an elbow so as to snap engage into an aperture formed in one of the members to be secured, the retainer comprising a substantially flat body 23 formed with a pair of cuts the material between which is spaced out of the general plane of the body so that the outwardly directed feet of the stud may be slidably engaged in the retainer which in turn may be engaged in the other member to be secured and wherein each cut in the body of the retainer is non-rectilinear or both cuts are rectilinear and are inclined to each other at an acute angle. As shown each cut has a central arcuate portion 25, 28 and two outer rectilinear portions 24, 26, 27, 29. The arcuate portions support the feet of the stud and prevent the stud jamming in the slot formed when the material between the cuts is forced out of the general plane of the body. When inclined rectilinear cuts are used the feet are likewise supported to prevent jamming. As shown the stud has two elbows 15, 16. Specification 525,202 is referred to.
