Abstract
890,864. Baling-presses. LINDEMANN, W. April 29, 1960 [Nov. 7, 1959], No. 15161/60. Class 94(1). [Also in Group XXII] A scrap packaging press having an open top closable by a cover 15, Fig. 1, and having two plungers movable along paths at right angles to each other, has its ejection opening closed by an outer slider 25 against which the last acting plunger 21, Fig. 6, compresses the scrap P, the slider being held in position by tie rods 27, 28, extending from a transverse member 26 carrying a cylinder 23 that drives the plunger 21. The slider 25 may rotate about one rod 27 and in its closed position it catches under an abutment 33 mounted on the other rod 28. Alternatively, Fig. 7, the slider 25 moves in a straight line to pass behind bosses 42, 43, fixed on the rods 27, 28. In operation, a trough 20, Fig. 1, tips the scrap into the press and the hydraulically operated cover 15 pivots downwardly to close the press. An hydraulic drive 18 moves a first plunger to compress the scrap in one direction and the plunger 21 is then operated to compress the scrap still further against the slider 25. The slider 25 is finally moved away from the aperture 24 by hydraulic means 37 whereupon the compressed scrap P can be ejected through the opening 24.
