Abstract

890,705. Electric light fittings. FALK STADELMANN & CO. Ltd. Dec. 16, 1960, No. 43489/60. Class 75(4) An "all insulated" housing having no external metal parts for an electric discharge lamp and associated control gear such as capacitors, chokes &c., consists of two separate enclosures, one for the lamps and one for the control gear, formed of heat insulating material, the enclosures being connected together but separated by an air gap open to the environment and formed between thermally conducting surfaces on the two enclosures. In the form shown, the control gear 1 is housed in an enclosure 2 consisting of a metallic base plate 3 and a moulded opaque cover 4 of e.g. fibre glass. A sealing strip 5 is provided between the plate 3 and a shoulder 7 on the cover 4. The lamp 8 is housed in an enclosure 9 consisting of a metallic top plate 10 and a moulded translucent cover 12, a sealing strip 13 being provided between the plate 10 and cover 12. The plates 3, 10 are connected together by bolts 17 and nuts 18, spacing bushes 19 and nuts 20. Spacing members 15 which may be hollow to allow the passage of insulated electric wires from the control gear 1 to the lamps 8 are provided between the surfaces 3, 10 to form an air gap. The cover 4 has a depending skirt 21 spaced from the edge of the plate 10.
