Class 29 Relates to cold air machines in which the air flows through a compressor 1, cooler 2, further cooler 3, expansion motor 4, a cooler 5 in a refrigerator chamber 6, and returns to the compressor 1 after cooling the compressed gas in further cooler 3. According to the invention, motor 4 is a rotary positive displacement expansion machine and drives an electric generator 7 feeding power into the mains. Generator 7 may act as a motor at starting up. Cooler 5 may be omitted, the expanded air flowing through the refrigerator.
