Abstract
890,101. Gear-cutting. BROWN INDUSTRIES Ltd., DAVID. Nov. 9, 1960, No. 38417/60. Class 83 (3). A gear-cutting, such as a hobbing, machine comprises a tool head 17 traversable across the face of a workpiece 14, a cam plate 27 on the head, and hydraulic means actuated by the cam for moving the tool and work to-and-from each other. The cam operates a valve 24 on the work slide 12 which carries a cylinder 19 cooperating with a piston on a fixed rod 20. A crowned gear or shaft coupling is thus produced.
