[Also in Group XXIII] The feed roller 15 of a saw is driven by a motor 16 which is pivoted at 16<SP>1</SP> so that energization of either an electromagnet 18 or an electromagnet 21 brings a friction-wheel 19 into contact with a disc 20 on the roller shaft 15<SP>1</SP> to feed the work 17 forward at slow cutting speed or a wheel 19<SP>1</SP> into contact with a smaller disc 22 to return the work at a faster speed. The electromagnets are controlled by a trigger 23 frictionally coupled to a change-over switch and co-operating with the ends of the work to effect change-over of direction and speed at the appropriate times.
