A blade B for doctoring a roll D or for wiping a roll W is held between jaws 28, 30 formed as edge-portions of plates 10, 12 which are bolted together at 14; these plates being stiff enough. to clamp the blade B in position, but yielding enough to open sufficiently to allow the blade to be readily removed when fluid pressure is applied to a chamber 22 which is sealed at 40, or when grub-screws 52 are screwed down.
