Abstract

An arrangement for transferring electrically conductive liquid from an uncharged source to an electrically charged receptacle, comprises means for forming one or more discrete units of said liquid and for conveying the unit or units of <PICT:0884944/III/1> <PICT:0884944/III/2> <PICT:0884944/III/3> liquid through the air before depositing the liqui in the charged receptacle. In Fig. 4 a pump P delivers paint under pressure from a supply 16 to a nozzle 36 where the paint is broken into discrete particles and directed into a funnel 35. The paint then drains into an electrically charged receptacle 10. In Fig. 2b an intermediate container 30 moves between the uncharged supply 16 and the electrically charged receptacle 10. In Fig. 3a the intermediate container 31 is staionary and when it has been filled from the source 16 the pipe 32 is lowered into the container 31. The pipe 33 is then raised to cause the liquid to drain into the electrically charged receptacle 10. The arrangement is applicable to electrostic paint spraying apparatus.
