Abstract

The invention comprises compounds of the formula <FORM:0884661/IV (b)/1> (wherein R1 and R2 are alkyl radicals each containing at most 5 carbon atoms, or, together with the adjacent nitrogen atom, they form a 5-or 6-membered saturated heterocyclic ring which may contain as a further hereto member an oxygen atom or the group NR3, R3 being an alkyl radical of at most 6 carbon atoms or a benzyl radical, and R4 is an alkylene radical having at most 6 carbon atoms in a straight chain and optionally substituted by methyl groups) and acid-addition salts thereof; and their preparation either by condensing an appropriate 10-(haloacyl)-phenthiazine-9-dioxide with an appropriate amine NHR1R2 or by condensing phenthiazine-9-dioxide with an appropriately substituted acyl halide. The condensations are preferably effected in an inert organic solvent and in the presence of an alkaline condensing agent. Examples are given.
