Abstract

884,561. Cramps. JAMESON, D. T., ROBSON, J. P., and IMPERIAL CHEMICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd. Nov. 18, 1959 [Dec. 3, 1958], No. 38960/58. Class 61. [Also in Group XXV] A jig for use in the manufacture of composite containers having an uninterrupted layer of foamed-in-place resin between the inner element 8 and outer member 19, comprises a support and a device for attracting one of the elements and holding said element relative to the support. As shown the inner element 8 is located by a number of locating pins in a jig support board 6 and secured by suction pads 1. The outer element 19 is secured in a second jig comprising a base board 15 attached to a frame 16 carrying movable members 17 which can be adjusted by screws 18 to grip or release the element. The two jigs are connected together by detachable hinges 13 and the final assembly of the two jigs is completed by hinged or swivel bolts which move into slots in the jig board 6. The suction pad assembly comprises a pad 1 attached to a shaft which moves in a guide sleeve 9 the pad being held in retracted position in the sleeve by a spring. The guide sleeve 9.is mounted on a bracket 5 attached to the jig support 6. The pad is pressed against the element 8 by pressure on the knob 4. In a modification the suction cups are replaced by magnetic devices.
