Abstract

1, 3, 5-tri-isopropylbenzene-2, 4-di-isocyanate may be reacted with one or more polyhydric alcohols such as castor oil, octadec-9, 10-ene-1, 12-diol, trimethylol-propane, trimethylolhexane, 2-ethyl-hexanediol or hexane-1, 2, 6-triol, to give reaction products which are soluble in non-polar solvents. These products may be further reacted with hydroxy-polyesters.ALSO:The invention comprises 1,3,5-tri-isopropyl-benzene-2,4-di-isocyanate and a process for its preparation by reacting 1,3,5-tri-isopropyl-2,4-diamino benzene with phosgene. The compound may be dimerised and converted into masked isocyanates. The dimethyl urethane is preferred.
