In a bolt assembly of the kind intended to be flush fitted to the top and bottom of doors and in which a bolt 8 is rectilinearly movable in relation to a face plate 6 into "shot" and "retracted" positions by means of a manually operable lever mechanism arranged between the face plate and the bolt the shoot portion 9 of the bolt engaging a corresponding opening in a foot plate 7 disposed perpendicularly to the face plate, the plates 6 and 7 are constructed as separate elements, the face plate being detachably connected to an extension of the foot plate in an overlapping manner.
