Abstract

882,732. Switchgear structures. BROOKHIRST SWITCHGEAR Ltd. Jan. 19, 1960 [Feb. 4, 1959], No. 3883/59. Class 38 (5). A Switchgear unit or contactor is mounted on a panel (not shown) pivoted in a casing 10 and carrying isolating plug contacts 15 engageable, when the door 11 is closed, with fixed supply sockets 14, by an external handle (not shown). If the door 11 is opened contacts 14, 15 are separated by a spring 17 acting on the panel and an arm 21, secured to the door 11 by a yoke 19, is withdrawn to allow a member 23, pivoted in brackets 25, to be rotated by a spring 27 and thus move shutters 18 to cover the sockets 14. The arm 21 also controls a weld-break catch 28 having an extension 29 which lies behind the panel and engages it to open the contacts 14, 15 if any of them have become welded together.
