Abstract
881,471. Colour television. ELECTRIC & MUSICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd. Feb. 20, 1958 [Feb. 28, 1957], No. 6712/57. Class 39(1) [Also in Group XL(b)] A colour television receiver tube has a screen comprising a plurality of regularly arranged luminescent strips 1, 2, 3 (R, G, B,) Fig. 1 adapted when excited by the beam to emit light of different colours, and secondary electron emitting material deposited in regularly arranged zones 4, substantially parallel to these strips, as shown in register with the R strips, the material being so deposited that there is a characteristic variation of the secondary electron emission within each zone in the direction of the strips. As shown, the secondary electron emitting material is deposited in narrow spaced strips 5 transverse to the zones 4 and if the electron beam 17, Fig 4, .is given a wobble during its scan the variation in the secondary electron emission during scaning results in the indexing signal having the wave form 20. The screen may be composed of white emitting luminescent material in conjunction with colour filters. The secondary emitting material may be of aluminium or magnesium oxide with a secondary emission coefficient higher than the aluminium layer of the screen or may be of carbon with a coefficient lower than that of the aluminium.
