Abstract
Alkyl hydrogen chlorosilanes are prepared from organo-polysiloxanes containing alkyl hydrogen siloxane units by heating the siloxane with aluminium chloride while distilling off the products. Temperatures of from about 150 DEG to-350 DEG C. are employed. The proportion of reactants is preferably such that the ratio of silicon to aluminium atoms is about 1:2 to 4:1. Specified alkyl groups are methyl and ethyl. In the examples they are all methyl and the products are mixtures of methyl chlorosilanes.
