Abstract
Oil to be degasified is fed by a pump through a conduit 2 into a container 3 in which are fitted <PICT:0880920/III/1> built-in parts 4, represented in the example shown as irrigation plates. The heated oil spreads over the irrigation plates and so assumes a large surface area and emits gases and vapours easily. With the container 3 a vacuum pump 6 is joined by means of a conduit 5. This sucks out gases and vapours from the container 3 and passes them through conduit 7 into the air. The oil which has collected on the floor of the container 3, and which is already extensively degasified, flows through a conduit 8 to a second container 9. A part 10 of the conduit 8 is the shape of a U-tube and forms a gastight seal between the containers 3 and 9. The container 9 is also fitted with built-in parts 4 and is joined to a pump 12 through a conduit 11, the pressure conduit 13 of which is connected to the suction piping 5 of the pump 6, that is to say the pump 6 acts as a pre-vacuum pump for the pump 12. The oil flows from the container 9 through a conduit 14, corresponding to the conduit 8, and into a container 15. A high vacuum pump 17 is connected to this by a conduit 16, the pressure piping of this pump being joined to the suction piping 11 of the pump 12. The construction shown in the drawings has three containers but a larger number may be used. If the container 15 is the last one, then the oil flows through a conduit 19 into a collecting reservoir 20, from which the degasified and dried oil can then be removed.
