Abstract
A thermoplastic composition comprises a filler admixed with a resinous binder consisting of a minor proportion of one or more resinous polymers of aromatic vinyl compounds and one or more rubbery polymers of mono olefines or copolymers thereof with diolefines, together with a major proportion of one or more petroleum resins, coumarone or coumarone/indene resins, resinous polymers of cyclopentadiene, naphthalene/formaldehyde resins, or asphaltic pitch or bitumens. Specified polymers are those derived from styrene or a -methyl styrene; isobutylene, isoprene, butadiene, piperylene and dimethyl butadiene. Pigments and fillers such as limestone and/or asbestos fibres may be included. The products find application as floor and wall coverings.ALSO:A thermoplastic composition comprises a filler admixed with a resinous binder consisting of a minor proportion of one or more resinous polymers of aromatic vinyl compounds and one or more rubbery polymers of monoolefines or copolymers, thereof with diolefines, together with a major proportion of one or more petroleum-resins, coumarone or coumarone/indene resins, resinous polymers of cyclopentadiene, naphthalene/formaldehyde resins, or asphaltic pitch or bitumens. The polymers specified are those derived from styrene, a -methyl styrene; isobutylene, isoprene, butadiene, piperylene and dimethylbutadiene. Pigments and fillers such as limestone, and/or asbestos fibres may be included. The products find application as floor and wall coverings.
