Class 123(1) [Also in Group XXVII] The inner wall of the.jacket 2 of a liquid-cooled I.C. engine is provided, in the areas subject to cavitation erosion, with replaceable steel plate 3 which protects the jacket wall from corrosion and is attached by resilient adhesive layer 8 which is resistant to hot water and which allows the plate to oscillate independently of the wall 2. After the plate has been secured metal lugs 9 may be welded to the jacket and bent over to restrain the plate and at the same time allow it to oscillate freely. The plate may be made of highly corrosion-resistant cathodic material.
