Abstract

876,994. Volume control. BRITISH BROADCASTING CORPORATION. April 8, 1959 [May 30, 1958], No. 17436/58. Class 40 (4). [Also in Group XL (c)] A transistor amplifier of variable gain comprises a transistor T1 in grounded emitter connection having a second transistor T2 connected in its emitter lead and functioning as a controllable resistance giving variable negative feedback. The base of the transistor T2 is connected via resistor R3, across which the gain control potential is produced, to a point on a bias potentiometer R4, R5 which together with the potentiometer R1, R2 biasing the base of the transistor T1, determines the static conditions of the arrangement.
