Abstract
876,812. Cabinets. ANOFF, S. M. Nov. 10, 1958, No. 36013/58. Class 52(1). [Also in Groups XI and XXV] A food cabinet comprises a double-wall body, the outer wall having in one face one or more openings, each defined by an inwardly directed rim and the inner wall having a corresponding opening or openings each defined by a rim connected in spaced relationship to the first rim, and food compartment means supported in limited contact with the outer wall of the cabinet by the abutment of a flange at one end with the outer wall rim. As shown, Fig. 3, openings 17 in an outer wall 16 are each defined by a rim 21, flanged at 22 and connected by channel section members 23 to flanges 31 on rims 30 defining openings in the inner wall 28. Horizontal stiffener channels 24 attached to the wall 16 receive hinge plates (not shown) for doors 27. The cabinet further comprises a double rear wall 16, 28a, side walls 38, 39, Fig. 2, and top and bottom walls 50 and 14, 15 respectively and it may be of pass-through construction, Fig. 3, the apertured rear wall 16, 28a being similar to the front wall 16, 28. The double wall structure and the doors 27 enclose heat insulating material 51. Each food compartment means 55 comprises a sleeve 56 with a flange 57 at its outer end, fitting into the recess formed by the rim 21 and abutting the flange 22, and at the other end a plurality of spaced axial flanges 58 which are received in flanges 61 on the inner end of a similar sleeve 59, a flange 60 at the outer end of the sleeve 59 fitting in a recess at the rear wall opening 17. Adjustable means 65 support the central portion of the compartments 55. The sleeves 56 and 59 are locked to each other at 63 and to the connecting members 23 at 64. The cabinet is heated by one or more electrical elements 68, Figs. 3,11, carried by the base 15 between insulated guards 68a and controlled by a device including a thermostat 73 in the upper part of the cabinet. A wall 37 of the control device housing 36, Fig. 11, is removable when a switch (not shown) mounted on the wall 37, is in the off position and a panel 49 giving access to the heating elements 68 is removable when the wall 37 has been removed. The flow of heat through the cabinet is controlled by dampers 84 rockable by means of cranked rods 82 operated by knobs 81 to cover or uncover vents 85 in the upper walls of the compartments 55, Fig. 2. Hinges 26 (see Group XXV) limit the opening of the doors 27 to the horizontal position in which pans may be placed on the ridged surface 111 of the doors. Fig. 15 shows a modified cabinet in which the rear wall has no aperture and the food compartments each comprise a single sleeve 132 closed at the rear by a plate 133 supported by adjustable members 130.
