Abstract
876,127. Anodizing zinc and zinc alloys. CONSOLIDATED MINING & SMELTING CO. OF CANADA Ltd. March 31, 1960 [July 14, 1959], No. 11480/60. Class 41. Articles made of zinc or zinc alloy are given a hard protective coating by anodizing, using an electrolyte free from metal ions and containing phosphate, fluoride, and chromate ions, preferably in the form of ammonium salts, the pH of the electrolyte being 6 to 8. Direct or alternating current may be used, and is applied at a low voltage which rises to a steady terminal voltage of about 200 volts.
