Abstract
875,914. Hydraulic control gate. SHAFFER TOOL WORKS. May 23, 1960, No. 18067/60. Class 85 [Also in Group XXIX] A ram gate assembly comprises a body 10, Fig. 1, having a longitudinal flow hole 14, with a gate chamber 15 extending laterally therefrom having hinged end caps 18 and ram assemblies 16 operably disposed within its ends and fluid motors secured to said caps. A ram shaft 38, Fig. 2, extends from the piston 33 in the cylinder 30 through the cap 18 to the chamber 15, and has arcuate arms 50 provided with a wall 60 thus forming an arcuate groove 51 in which the ram block assembly 16 is adapted to be fitted, Fig. 4. The cap 18 is provided with a number of horizontal rails 54, Fig. 5 on which the arms 50 rest, either in the outer or retracted position. The hinge for each cap 19, Fig. 3 comprises a pair of hinge members 60a, a central hinge port 62, a hinge pin 65 disposed within the bores 61a and 63 and axial bores 67 and 68. The body 10 is provided with a pair of manifolds 75, 76 having fluid passages 77, 78 with ports 77a, 78a and the manifold 76 is connected to the inner end of cylinder 30. In order to remove the ram assembly from the arms 50, fluid pressure is provided through passage 78, hinge 19, and passage 90 causing the piston 33 to remove the ram assembly from the pocket 18b.
