875,883. Guiding yarn to winding devices. SCRAGG & SONS Ltd., ERNEST. Nov. 27, 1959 [Dec. 3, 1958], No. 40267/58. Class 120(2) In order to maintain regularity of twist when winding yarn, the length of yarn between the point of application to the package and a delivery point is maintained substantially constant. Yarn delivered by a roller 8 passes through a traveller 4 slidable on a plate 5 which may be arcuate or eliptical according to the length of the yarn between the roller 8 and the traverse finger 3. Instead of using a traveller, the yarn may run over the surface of a curved plate, bar or wire, or pass through a guide on a pivoted arm. The yarn supply may be a two-for-one twister.
