Abstract
875,538. Moulding gramophone records. PHILIPS ELECTRICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd. March 14, 1958 [March 18, 1957], No. 8269/58. Class 87(2). In a die for moulding e.g. gramophone records from thermosetting or thermoplastic material, and comprising upper and lower matrices 5, 6 secured to supports 1, 2 having elevated portions 3, 4, the distance between the matrices 5, 6 radially outwardly of the elevations 3, 4 when the die is closed is greater than the thickness of the article to be moulded so that excess material expands freely into the space beyond the elevations 3, 4. Clamping rings 7, 8 for the matrices may be tapered as at 9, 10 so that on opening the die the moulded record is secured to the die half 1 not having cavity-forming projections. Alternatively one die half may be provided with hooks or pins around which the excess material is pressed.
