Abstract

Consecutive signal components are digitally captured and the signals are subjected to a fast Fourier transform in which the numbers of measurement values of each signal component capturing the fundamental period are arranged in a repetitive sequence until a number suitable for the fast Fourier transform is reached or even exceeded. The signal series thus composed is subjected to the fast Fourier transform. The analog-digital conversion of the signal which is to be analysed is carried out with a sampling frequency which is higher than would be necessary according to the requirement of the sampling theorem for the highest frequency to be analysed. The invention can be used in technical diagnosis, in speech analysis and in certain medical applications. <IMAGE>
